Public Safety
Public safety is one of the most important responsibilities of city government. Julie believes Phoenix residents deserve safe neighborhoods, reliable emergency response, and police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, and emergency medical personnel who have the staffing, training, and resources necessary to protect a growing community.
Julie’s public safety priorities focus on strengthening essential services, supporting first responders, improving coordination, and building trust between residents and those who serve them.
Strengthening Police Staffing and Resources
Julie supports a properly staffed and well-resourced police department. She believes Phoenix must continue recruiting and retaining qualified officers, providing competitive compensation, and expanding civilian support positions so sworn officers can spend more time responding to calls, investigating crimes, and maintaining a visible presence in neighborhoods.
Julie also supports providing officers with modern equipment, effective technology, and ongoing training that allows them to perform their duties safely and professionally.
Improving Emergency Response
Julie believes Phoenix residents should be able to trust that help will arrive quickly when they call 911. She supports strengthening dispatch operations, addressing staffing shortages, and using reliable data to position police, fire, and medical resources where they are needed most.
Julie will support better coordination among dispatchers, first responders, hospitals, and other emergency partners to reduce delays, save lives, and improve confidence in the city’s emergency response system.
Supporting First Responders
Julie understands the demanding work performed every day by police officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and 911 dispatchers. She believes they deserve stable funding, updated equipment, adequate staffing, effective training, and access to physical and mental wellness resources.
As Phoenix continues to grow, Julie will advocate for responsible planning to ensure that fire stations, personnel, and emergency resources keep pace with the needs of every community.
Community-Oriented Policing
Julie believes strong relationships between officers and residents make neighborhoods safer. She supports community-oriented policing that encourages officers to become familiar and trusted members of the neighborhoods they serve.
Julie will promote regular neighborhood patrols, direct engagement with residents, and partnerships with schools, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and faith-based groups to identify concerns early and prevent crime before it escalates.
Addressing Drug Activity and Protecting Young People
Julie recognizes the threat that dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, pose to young people and families. She supports strong enforcement against dealers and traffickers while also investing in prevention, education, and cooperation among law enforcement, schools, parents, and community organizations.
Julie believes the city must identify areas experiencing persistent drug activity, respond before problems spread, and support programs that provide young people with safe and productive opportunities.
Safer Streets
Julie believes traffic safety is public safety. Speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, and dangerous behavior near schools and residential neighborhoods put pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists at risk.
Julie supports targeted enforcement in high-risk areas and continued investments in street lighting, crosswalks, traffic signals, sidewalks, and other infrastructure that can prevent serious collisions.
Accountability and Transparency
Julie believes supporting law enforcement and expecting high professional standards are not competing priorities. Clear policies, effective training, responsible oversight, and transparent review processes protect residents while supporting officers who perform their duties professionally.
Julie will support accountability measures that strengthen public trust and ensure Phoenix’s public safety institutions remain effective, respected, and responsive.
Julie’s Commitment to a Safe Phoenix
Julie is committed to helping build a Phoenix that is safe, responsive, and prepared for the future. She will prioritize public safety staffing, stronger emergency response, support for first responders, neighborhood partnerships, and high professional standards.
Julie believes Phoenix can protect residents while ensuring the men and women who serve the community have the support and resources they need to succeed.
